Feel free to call me Yolanda!
My journey into mental health began as an educator, driven by a passion to better support the students I served.
As I moved into educational leadership, I developed the skills to guide adults through the complexities of their own professional and personal paths.
I earned my Master’s in Counseling from Northwestern University, where I was trained with a Psychodynamic focus. At its core, this approach is about bringing the 'unseen' into the light—helping you understand how deep-seated patterns and past experiences shape your current reality.
By fostering this level of self-awareness, the overarching goal is to resolve long-standing conflicts and create meaningful, lasting change in how you relate to yourself and others.
While I integrate evidence-based tools like CBT, EMDR, and Internal Family Systems to meet your immediate needs, I am a psychodynamic counselor at heart. This means that while we work on practical solutions, we will also explore the deeper roots of your experiences to create lasting, soulful change.
Today, I bring this integrative perspective to my work at The Center for Psychological Services, where I support individual teens, adults, and couples throughout Illinois.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I work under the supervision of the practice's Wellness Coordinator, Danielle Vaquer, LMFT.
