Meet Dr. Yolanda Sanders
Educator’s Clarity. Therapist’s Compassion.
My journey into mental health began in the classroom. As an educator, I was driven by a passion to better support the students I served, but as I moved into educational leadership, I realized that the adults leading our schools also needed a dedicated space to navigate their own complexities. This dual background allows me to guide you through both the practical hurdles of professional life and the deep-seated patterns of your personal path
I earned my Master’s in Counseling from Northwestern University, where I was trained with a Psychodynamic focus. At its core, this approach is about bringing the "unseen" into the light. Together, we explore how your past experiences and ingrained survival strategies shape your current reality. By fostering this level of self-awareness, we work to resolve long-standing conflicts and move you from reactive survival to a place of authentic, intentional arrival.
While I am a psychodynamic counselor at heart, I believe in meeting your immediate needs with evidence-based tools. I integrate CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), EMDR, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) into our sessions. This means that while we develop practical solutions for today, we are also doing the "soul work" to address the deeper roots of your experiences, ensuring the change we create is meaningful and lasting.
Today, I bring this integrative perspective to my work at The Center for Psychological Services, where I support teens, adults, and couples throughout Illinois. Whether we meet in person at our Oak Lawn office or via online therapy, my goal is to help you relate to yourself—and the world—with newfound resilience and grace.
Dr. Yolanda Sanders, EdD, MA, LPC, NCC.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I work under the clinical supervision of Danielle Vaquer, LMFT, the Wellness Coordinator at The Center for Psychological Services.
